Innovators: A Musical Odyssey is a one-hour musical and visual exploration of the essential human need to break through barriers and find unique ways of solving the problems life presents.

Narrated by the award-winning actress Alfre Woodard, Innovators features the music of Sam Cardon and Kurt Bestor, who paint musical portraits of women and men ranging from Albert Schweitzer and Stephen Hawking to C.M Hatfield, the first “rainmaker” and Chai Ling, a leader of the student uprisings in Tiananmen Square. The show also explores the efforts of unnamed innovators, including those who created a “third spring” by tearing down the Berlin Wall and those who seek to protect the children of war-torn countries.

Interwoven throughout each song is film footage that accentuates the emotion of the music and creates visual narratives with scenes of spectacular natural beauty, human achievement, and timely news footage from Berlin, Beijing, and Yugoslavia.
