Music and the Spoken Word

The Mormon Tabernacle Choir's first network radio program, Music and the Spoken Word was transmitted on July 15, 1929. The organ, choir, and announcer shared a single microphone. In contemporary times, after more than 75 years and over 3,800 broadcasts, "Music and the Spoken Word" is the oldest continuous nationwide network broadcast in America. It is distributed by the CBS Radio Network. Broadcasts include performances by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
