In May 2009 ground was broken for the new BYU Broadcasting Technical Operations Center on a site just east of the Marriott Center at Brigham Young University. This 100,000 square foot building will be a state-of-the-art, HD production and distribution facility which will house all of the television, radio and digital media operations of BYU Broadcasting (BYUB), including Eleven KBYU-TV, Classical 89 KBYU-FM, BYUtv, BYU Television International, BYU Radio as well as the digital/on-line operations of each of these channels.
BYUB's new home will consolidate existing facilities spread out between the Harris Fine Arts Center and a facility in south Provo, 4.5 miles from campus. The building will be home to approximately 80 fulltime employees and 250+ student employees and will include three television production studios, two television control rooms, radio studios, radio performance space and master control operations.
The building is scheduled to be complete in late 2010/early 2011.
