In May 2009 ground was broken for the new BYU Broadcasting (BYUB) Technical Operations Center on a site just east of the Marriott Center at Brigham Young University. The facility was completed in the fall of 2010, and that November, BYUB's new home consolidated the existing facilities spread out between the Harris Fine Arts Center and another site in south Provo, 4.5 miles from campus.
The 100,000-square-foot building is a state-of-the-art HD production and distribution facility. It now houses all of the television, radio, and digital media operations of BYUB, including KBYU Eleven, Classical 89, BYUtv, BYUtv International, BYU Radio, BYU Radio Instrumental, and BYU Radio International, as well as the digital/online operations of each of these channels. The building includes three television production studios, two television control rooms, radio studios, radio performance space, and master control operations. It is now home to approximately 80 full-time employees and 250+ student employees.
